About Discovery

At Discovery, we’re proud to support people across Somerset and Cornwall to live the lives they choose. When you join us, you’re becoming part of a caring, committed team that puts people first in everything we do. You’ll make a real difference every day, and we’ll support you with excellent training, development opportunities and a wide range of colleague benefits to help you grow.

There’s no “typical” Support Worker here — our teams are made up of people of all ages, backgrounds and life experiences. Whether you’re new to care, changing careers or bringing years of experience, you’ll be welcomed and valued.

What brings us all together is a shared passion for helping people live well, learn new skills and build independence. Our Support Workers don’t see their role as just a job — it’s the chance to brighten someone’s day, champion their choices and be part of moments that truly matter

Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2026 — our eighth consecutive year of recognition.

About the role

At Eldermere, you’ll be part of a close-knit, friendly team supporting six wonderful adults in their 60s to 80s. This is a warm, homely setting set within beautiful private grounds near St Peter’s Hospital—just a short, pleasant walk from town.

Each person you’ll support has their own unique personality, preferences and routines. Your role is to help them live life in a way that feels meaningful to them. This might include attending weekly music sessions, enjoying crafts like knitting, supporting visits to church on Sundays, or getting out and about for swimming or hydro (you’ll need to feel confident getting into the pool), lunches out, walks, bowling or trips to the cinema. You’ll also help people stay connected with their families and friends, which is something very important to everyone at Eldermere.

Some aspects of the role involve practical and personal care, ensuring hygiene routines are followed, and that the people we support are safe when using wheelchairs and hoists. You'll promote healthy eating, support with day-to-day house old chores, update support plans and assistant with medication when required.

Shifts: You'll need to work flexibly between 7am and 10pm, plus 1 sleep-in per week, and work alternate weekends.
Driver licence: Full UK manual Drivers licence is essential.

If you’re someone who genuinely cares about improving people’s lives, this role will bring real meaning and reward.

About you

You don’t need previous experience to become a great Support Worker — what matters most is your attitude. We’re looking for people who are patient, positive, kind and genuinely motivated to help others live well. If you’re someone who listens, encourages independence, enjoys being part of an active team and isn’t afraid of getting stuck in, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll be someone who values dignity, choice and inclusion, and who brings calmness, resilience and creativity to your work — whether that’s helping with personal care, supporting communication, joining someone for a favourite activity, or enabling someone to feel safe and confident throughout their day.
