About Discovery

At Discovery, we’re proud to support people across Somerset and Cornwall to live the lives they choose. When you join us, you’re not just starting a job — you’re becoming part of a warm, dedicated team that puts people first. You’ll make a genuine difference every day, and we’ll support you with great training, development opportunities and a range of colleague benefits to help your career grow.

There’s no such thing as a “typical” Support Worker with us. Our teams include people from all ages and backgrounds — from those starting out in their first role, to career changers, to experienced support workers looking for an organisation that truly values the people it supports.

What unites everyone is the same motivation: helping people live well, learn new things and build greater independence. Our support workers don’t see their role as “just a job” — it’s a chance to brighten someone’s day, champion their choices and be part of moments that matter.

Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2026 — our eighth consecutive year of recognition.

About the role

At Apple Tree Court — a lively home supporting 12 adults aged from their 20s to their 60s — we’re excited to welcome Support Workers who are ready to bring fresh ideas, positivity, and a values-driven approach to life.

Here, no two days look the same. You might be helping someone enjoy a pamper session or a trip to the spa, whilst other enjoy listening and making music with their drums and the piano, or joining our regular coffee meet-ups and movie nights. We love getting out into the community too — from shopping trips and visits to Greenbanks, to Easter egg hunts and local events like Learning Disabilities Day at Millfield.

The people we support have a range of needs including autism, dementia, epilepsy, diabetes and behaviours of distress. Some people we support use communication passports and use their own unique styles. You’ll support everything from gentle prompting to full personal care, mobility support (wheelchairs & hoists), and modified meal support.

Apple Tree Court is just a short walk from Clarks Village, with great transport links and access to local facilities like gyms and pools. Drivers are preferred, though non-drivers are welcome.

Shifts: 7am - 2:30pm / 2:30pm - 10pm and including working alternate weekends.

About you

You don’t need previous experience to become a great Support Worker — what matters most is your attitude. We’re looking for people who are patient, positive, kind and genuinely motivated to help others live well. If you’re someone who listens, encourages independence, enjoys being part of an active team and isn’t afraid of getting stuck in, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll be someone who values dignity, choice and inclusion, and who brings calmness, resilience and creativity to your work — whether that’s helping with personal care, supporting communication, joining someone for a favourite activity, or enabling someone to feel safe and confident throughout their day.

Training, Development and Career Opportunities

Working for Discovery is rewarding, meaningful and offers genuine career progression. Within your first 12 weeks, we’ll fund and support you to complete the Care Certificate, which is essential for anyone working in health and social care.

You’ll have access to a wide range of online and face-to-face training, including specialist courses tailored to the needs of the people you support. Through our City & Guilds accredited qualification centre, you can work towards diplomas and recognised qualifications — and in some cases earn a financial bonus on completion.

Our Learning Connect online platform gives you access to extensive training pathways so you can continue developing your skills throughout your career with us.
