About the role
This is a rewarding weekend role supporting people across two friendly homes in Cheddar, where every day is different and full of opportunities to make a real impact. You’ll be supporting a small group of adults, aged between their 50s and 70s, each with their own personalities, interests, and support needs.
Your role will involve providing personal care, supporting with eating and drinking, and promoting health and wellbeing. You’ll also help people stay active and engaged—whether that’s trips out, visiting friends and family, enjoying hobbies like art, discos, or horse riding, or helping care for much-loved pets including chickens, ducks, and guinea pigs. You also might be supporting someone to attend a club, encouraging independence with daily living skills, or helping someone try something new in the community.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, is proactive, and wants to support people to live full, active, and meaningful lives.
About you
To thrive as a Support Worker here, you’ll be compassionate, reliable, and genuinely motivated to make a difference. You don’t need previous experience—what matters most is your values, willingness to learn, and confidence to support people to live the life they choose.
You’ll have good communication skills and enjoy building trusting relationships with the people you support, their families, and colleagues. You’ll be patient, calm, and adaptable, responding to different situations with empathy and professionalism. Being proactive and encouraging individuals to develop their independence and try new things is key.
You’ll be comfortable using basic IT systems for recording notes and completing training, and committed to your own development. Above all, you’ll bring kindness, respect, and positivity, helping create a safe, supportive, and welcoming home.
