About the role

Hello! My name is Barbara, but everyone who knows me well calls me Barbs. I live in my own cosy flat at Grove Court in Shepton Mallet, and I’m looking for someone special to join my small, friendly team to support me during the night.

I need support24/7, and nights are an important time for me. My sleep can sometimes be a bit up and down depending on how I’m feeling, so I need someone who is calm, patient, kind, and has a good sense of humour. If you can be warm and gentle, but also kindly firm when I need it, you might be just who I’m looking for.

Once you’re settled and confident, you’ll be working with me on your own during the night. I’ll need your support to feel comfortable and safe, to help me with drinks if I’m awake, and to support me with my personal care. After some training, you’ll also help by keeping my records up to date and letting my day staff know how I’ve been during your shift.

My team say I’m “cheeky and mischievous, and even though I don’t use words to communicate, I always let you know what I want and what I like.”

I think that sums me up pretty well!

About you

  • Stay calm and reassuring, even when things feel challenging – your presence makes a difference.

  • Can provide personal care when needed, always with empathy and understanding.
  • Bring flexibility and reliability, knowing that your role is essential to someone’s wellbeing.
