Community Connector
Yeovil
Full UK drivers licence and car required
As a Community Connector based from our Yeovil Hub, you'll support around 10-11 people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live the lives they choose, helping them build confidence, develop independence, and achieve the goals that matter most to them. You'll work alongside people to discover their interests, ambitions and talents, connecting them with opportunities within their local community and supporting them to become active, valued members of the community.
This is a highly rewarding outreach role where you'll spend your time helping people access meaningful activities, employment opportunities, volunteering, social groups, fitness sessions and community organisations. One day you could be supporting someone at a local singing group, the next accompanying them to the gym, helping them volunteer in a charity shop, or supporting them to develop skills in a workplace setting.
You'll build strong relationships with the people you support, their families, employers, local businesses and community groups, helping to create opportunities that align with each person's dreams and aspirations.
Shifts: As every individual has different goals and lifestyles, flexibility is key. While your usual hours will be between 8:30am and 4:30pm, you'll occasionally need to work evenings or weekends to support people with the activities and experiences they choose. You'll also provide personalised support with medication, moving and assisting, and some personal care, when required.
This is a lone-working role, so you'll need to be confident working independently, using your initiative and adapting your support to meet individual needs. You'll also need to be a driver with access to your own vehicle, willing to use it for work purposes and hold appropriate business insurance.
