Location: Street, Somerset (BA16 0AS) – with travel across Somerset
Salary: £13.70 per hour
Hours: Full-time, flexible shifts (including evenings/weekends as needed)

Make a real difference every day

At Discovery, we’re proud to support people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live the lives they choose. We’re looking for passionate, reliable people to join us as Community Connectors – a role at the heart of what we do.

If you enjoy building relationships, supporting independence, and being part of something meaningful, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

About the role

As a Community Connector (Support Worker), you’ll work alongside people in their communities, supporting them to develop skills, build confidence, and achieve the things that matter most to them.

No two days are the same, but you’ll be:

  • Supporting people to live independently at home and in their community
  • Encouraging choice, control and decision-making
  • Helping people access activities, hobbies and social opportunities
  • Building positive, trusting relationships
  • Working as part of a supportive team, alongside managers and colleagues who share your values

This is a flexible role, with shifts based on the needs of the people we support. You’ll primarily be based in Street, with travel across other areas of Somerset when required.

About you

You don’t need previous experience – we’ll provide full training. What matters most is your attitude and values.

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Compassionate, patient and respectful
  • Positive and motivated to support others
  • Great communicators who enjoy working with people
  • Flexible and able to work a range of shifts
  • Willing to travel locally across Somerset when needed

Why join Discovery?

At Discovery, we believe in recognising and valuing our teams. When you join us, you’ll be part of a supportive organisation that puts people first – both the people we support and our colleagues.

You’ll gain:

  • A meaningful role where you can make a genuine difference
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • A supportive team environment where your contribution is valued
  • The chance to build a rewarding career in social care

Discovery is proud to be successfully accredited by the Great Places To Work Programme for the sixth year in row in 2026.

  • £13.70 per hour
  • 30 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
  • Great induction and training opportunities including the Care Certificate, and Diploma in Health & Social Care
  • We offer a salary advance scheme where you can access up to 50% of the money you've earned before payday.
  • Mileage allowance
  • Supported ‘Learn to Drive’ scheme (up to 30 driving lessons, 1 theory/practical test - all paid for by us)
  • A 24 Hour Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family members
  • Long Service Awards, Life Assurance and Pension scheme
  • Flexible working with the option to work overtime and extra hours

You will have full support from the Locality and Assistant Locality Managers and be part of a team that meets regularly. We will also provide you with a phone and tablet to support the flexible working and to keep records up to date.

Being a driver is desirable for this role to meet people’s needs and to work flexibly across Somerset.
