Support Worker

We’re all here to make a positive difference to people with learning disabilities and/or autism in Somerset. Here at Discovery we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our Support Worker team at Sunnyside in Williton.

About the role:

As a Support Worker at Sunnyside you will be supporting a group of 8 adults with Learning Disabilities and or Autism, living in a large bungalow adapted to fit their needs. The People we Support who live here love to get involved in the day to day jobs that need to be done around the house, and some are often very independent for a lot of the day, but will sometimes need your support to remember important tasks such as taking their medication.

The People we Support at Sunnyside are a very social bunch, who love parties, going swimming, having holidays and going to watch a pantomime. We have a lovely community at Sunnyside, where you will be supporting people to maintain and develop their relationships with friends and family, both at home and in the community.

Your role is a very varied one, and you could find yourself supporting someone with a broad range of jobs and activities throughout the day. You won’t need any experience to do this job but you will need a great sense of humour and a good attitude to learn. The ability to drive, particularly the ability to drive a minibus, would be an advantage but is not essential.

Benefits and rewards:

  • £9.00 per hour, £9.90 for waking nights, £30.50 per sleep in.
