Support Worker

We’re all here to make a positive difference to people with learning disabilities and/or autism in Somerset. Here at Discovery we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our Support Worker team at our new community day support servicein Yeovil.

About the role:

Our new community support and day service in Yeovil is part of our transformation of day services. As a support worker in our new service, you will be enabling people to take part in new experiences; whether that be support to find and join a class or group to fulfil a hobby or ambition, enroll on a course to learn new skills, learning independent living skills such as cooking, maintaining their home or understanding finances, building positive and meaningful relationships with others, meeting new friends, but the possibilities are endless.

We are looking for confident, positive and pro-active people to join our team who have a real desire to motivate and encourage the people we support to realise their ambitions and to ensure they are leading their support and choosing their own outcomes. Our team will co-ordinate and support people to experience and learn new things in life, and our goal is to create opportunities to develop their skills and independence.

Becoming part of the local community is important to the people we support and to us. Helping develop our relationships and links with others, everyone in our team have to be effective communicators with a friendly and warm personality as well as being able to use their initiative and utilise the support of fellow team members to make things happen!
