Here at Discovery we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our Support Worker team at St James Resource Centre in Yeovil. You don’t need to have experience as a Support Worker as we can give you the training and knowledge you’ll need but you will need to have a great attitude and be passionate about improving the lives of the people in our care.
Discovery is a not-for-profit organisation that supports around 900 individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs with the aim to make a real difference. We are driven by our values. People with learning disabilities and their families are at the heart of everything we do and we want every person we support to have a great life, with excellent outcomes.
About the role:
Future 4 St James is a centre providing day and community support to adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex health needs. Our centre is part of our community, and an important safe place where people we support meet with friends, socialise, learn skills and partake in a range of activities ran by the support team or accessed in the community.
We are looking for support workers who enjoy and have the skills to facilitate activities and groups that could involve music, dance, sports, swimming, art, communication methods, gardening, cooking, drama, sensory integration and more. The list is endless as what we do is shaped around the people we support and their aspirations and goals. Our team support people with their personal care, eating and drinking needs, medication and communication to enable them to take part in any activity they choose and to remove barriers to enable support in community settings. Linking in and building relationships with families, other professionals and providers, charities and social groups in the community is also a big part of the role, as working in partnership is an important part of our support in the community.
Benefits and rewards:
- £9.00 per hour, £9.90 for waking nights, £30.50 per sleep in.
- Full time, part time, and relief work available.
- 30 days' annual leave entitlement (including bank holidays)
- Supported ‘Learn to Drive’ scheme (up to 10 driving lessons paid for by us)
- Pension scheme
- Long Service Awards
- Life Assurance
- Great Induction and training opportunities including the Care Certificate, and Diploma in Health & Social Care.
